The compatibility names below select Google symbols; the full catalog and variable axes are available through Symbol, SymbolIcon and Axes.

Assets

Material Symbols first, followed by caller-owned application assets. With default features, symbols are embedded on both desktop and WASM. Without embedded-symbols, supply the sibling library assets before drawing.

Axes

Continuous variation coordinates. Construction rejects invalid or non-finite values.

Icon

Material’s 20px default slot and legacy builder API over Component Icon.

MaterialSymbols

Embedded SVG asset source. GPUI caches rasterized SVGs by their full path.

Symbol

A validated symbol from Google’s complete, pinned catalog, including aliases.

A symbol, visual style, and validated set of variation coordinates.
